If you have ever wanted to make sales through social media, now is the time. That being said, it would be unwise to start a social media marketing campaign without first understanding what your market is and how you can parlay your current initiatives to social media.
Over $200 Billion dollars circulates through the social media market; there is almost a target audience for everyone in the world.
If you have a product or service, there is a need for social media marketing.
It will be hard to specify without actually understanding your current goals, so I have put together a Do's and Dont's list for your business.
Don't start on social media if:
You have a business that cannot ship products.
You are planning to make posts only about advertising.
You do not have the time for social media or your MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue) is too low to take on new tasks.
Do start social media if:
You are trying to build a long term brand.
You have consistent sales and have been operating without social media for more than 6 months.
You have competitors on social media.
You are looking to scale outside of PPC (Pay-Per-Click) ads.

Now, let's get into how you can start on social media and bring in more conversions for your business.
Build out your content with products and benefits
Everyone who sells online or carries a physical product can easily make content based around their products.
Take the time to figure out your niche online by analyzing for competition on the network. Finding things like social media accounts and pages online with a similar style to yours will allow you to find a good reference for where to start.
You will want to start with product showcasing and benefits when you build out your first 15 posts on social media. Keep the content short to generate better content and keep the user engaged. If the content is too long, you can expect most viewers will not watch and your efforts will die.

Familiarize yourself with short-form editing software like CapCut or Inshot.
Make posts that start and end the same, this way you can play the video in a loop.
The number one objective before sales when posting on social media is, attention.
How to make a trending post on social media
Making a trending post on social media is quite easy once you know your audience, and have a good product.
Assuming you have content that you can edit videos about, the next thing is to create a post that is on beat. Video content has the most ability to go viral. You will want to invest in a social media content editor or train yourself with good marketing tactics if you wish to increase traffic on social.
Trending posts are always broken down in a few ways. These methods are:
Quick hook > Short video length > Trending sound > Aesthetic orientation
If your video has all of the material listed above, you have a great chance of getting a high amount of traffic on social media.
This can be hard to replicate at first, but always go back to your target audience to reference how you will build out your content.
Which social media platform to use
The next thing to do after you have a content batch, is choose the preferred platform. In 2023, content is all about video and graphic design aesthetic. You can post short and long form content on most social media platforms. Here is a list of platforms you can use based on service and product type.
LinkedIn and Facebook
These platforms are perfect for service based products. They can also be good for E-commerce products through paid advertisements, where it become hard to convert on other platforms because of congestion/saturation.
On LinkedIn, the best way to approach a post is by providing value within the post copy. You want to be able to deliver your thoughts in a uniform manner. If you choose to go with LinkedIn, your post can be reused on Facebook.
Videos can be posted on LinkedIn, so make sure to talk clearly and use a captions app to draw in viewers that do not turn on audio. Subtitles and captions also help in capturing audience attention.
Instagram and TikTok
If you have a product based business, you are going to do really well on these platforms. As long as you remember the trend rule and to always go for your target audience, both paid ads and organic content can be used to generate massive amounts of impressions and conversions.
Service based businesses also do well on this platform but you cannot advertise the same way you would with a product based business.
Paid advertisements on social media always convert better for product based businesses because they tap in to an impulse buy.
A quick guideline for Instagram/TikTok content:
Make it short and capture attention in the first 3 seconds.
Show value from the first 5 seconds and continue to layer in the value.
If there is a possibility your attention will be lost while watching the content, cut it out.
Experiment with 3 different types of posts: Carousel, Video, Static post
You cannot go wrong if you create and schedule all of these post styles, but it is important to focus on one. Based on the best impressions in one week, you can dictate how to further plan your content.
Short form content will be the best way to build a following and increase engagement. Make sure to include CTAs but use them sparsely. You want to gain as much inbound traffic as you can without affecting your follower growth.
Whether you have a product that sells on Amazon or you are just starting out as a product store locally, using social media to build a niche audience will be the key factor for your business that puts you above your competitors and builds long term success. Sales depends on your traffic, try out 7 days of posting unique content and gather the data from your posts. From the data you collect make adjustments for the next week.
